Principle 6: Respect all equally

06

Respect all equally

We respect human rights, individual rights and the dignity of all. We do not tolerate any discrimination of people based on where they were born, where they live, what they look like, who they love… or anything, really!

Key points.

  • We all have different needs, beliefs and backgrounds, we have open and honest conversations while respecting the needs of all.
  • We take an active role in participating in team activities, learning about each other, and even educating each other about ourselves.
  • We do not turn a blind eye to discrimination, mistreatment or short-changing of anyone regardless of who they are.

Fine print.

We respect, protect and promote all regulations in force to protect human rights and children’s rights as a fundamental and general requirement throughout the world. We do not tolerate any form of child, forced or compulsory labour, or modern slavery, in our company but also as part of the conduct of and towards business partners.

Scenario.

Next month is Pride Month, you would like your team to undertake more activities to support LGBTIQ+. You send out a survey to your team asking who in your team identifies as LGBTIQ+. Despite your positive intentions, this question and the subsequent processing of personal data would be in breach of European laws. Employees cannot be asked their sexual orientation in any way. You can still support Pride in other ways.

Where can I find out more?

Whenever you have questions about applicable laws, regulations or company policies that apply to your function or activity, contact the People team or the Legal & Governance team. If you would like to start a case on any of these matters, please do not hesitate to use the Speak Out platform.
